Nick Olivas became a father at 14, a fact he wouldn't learn for eight years.

While in high school, Olivas had sex with a 20-year-old woman. He had never considered that she took advantage of a lonely kid going through a rough patch at home.

State law says a child younger than 15 cannot consent with an adult under any circumstance, unquestionably making Olivas a rape victim. Olivas never pressed charges because he didn't realize at the time that it was even something to consider.

Olivas, now 24 and living in Phoenix, graduated from high school, went to college and became a medical assistant.

Then two years ago, the state served him with papers demanding child support. These papers were how he found out he had a then-6-year-old daughter.

Olivas was told that he owes about $15,000 in back child support and medical bills going back to the child's birth… plus 10 percent interest for “non-payment” up to that point. The state was legally able to seize money from his bank account and is currently garnishing his wages at $380 a month until the debt is paid (not including ongoing monthly child support payments).

Although there has been some public outcry regarding forcing a rape victim to pay child support payments, no legal exception or legal protections for the underage rape of boys has ever been created to prevent the courts from doing so.

So currently in the eyes of the law, it is all above board and without any possible legal recourse nor preventions for it not to happen to any other underage male rape victims in the future either.

Tell me again about the patriarchy. Reverse the genders for a second and see how impossible this would be.
Presuming there is no statute of limitations on rape, then he should lawyer up and sue the now 30 yo old rapist and claim back all of the expenses until the kid is aged 18.
The fact that some faceless bureaucrat went ahead put this in place shows how broken the system truly is.

Just as bad is the practice of kid-trapping ~ where a woman deliberately gets pregnant to entrap a high value man who expressly took precautions to avoid fatherhood and made it clear in no uncertain terms that he was not looking for a relationship or child. Obviously "No" doesn't mean "No" then.

Or when a husband finds out or figures out the kid is not his and the wife then claims her lover raped her to try to save her marriage. Or the courts still make him pay for its upkeep as he had been deceived into it for the previous few years. There should be no child support without a paternity test.

If the woman claims Affective Paternity, the paternity test is ignored. It's an aberration in the brazilian law.
