Got to see him a couple of years  ago, and even though he looked frail then, he still belted those songs out.  Soundown. Carefrree Highway, If you could read my mind.   Great singer.

I's a very sad day in Canadian Music. A national treasure that will never be replaced. One of the few Canadian artists that i didn't mind having shoved into my ears on a daily base! RIP to a great Canadian singer/songwriter!
When I get around to it, I'll write

The classic of all Canadian classics! Gordon Lightfoot actually got the inspiration for this song after reading a story in Newsweek magazine about the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. The song was released in 1976. I cannot listen to this song without getting chills down my spine when I hear that haunting guitar.

I could rape your pussy, but I'd be in and out in a few minutes. So I choose to rape your mind, and I'll be inside you forever!

Love that song, Vile8r.  He actually got most of the details correct too.  Great songwriting.
