Remembrances Of An Old Man
« on: February 28, 2023, 02:29:25 PM »
My birthday is once more upon me and have been in communication with an young lady who unbeknownst to her had got my mind reliving past music. I've lived through vinyl albums, 8-tracks, cassettes, CD and MP3/Ipod. Seen the rise and collapse of TV videos stations and programing and the opening of new markets thanks to the internet. Musical styles come and go only to return again in new formats. The Biggest and to me the most important having me ears and eyes opened to new music from everywhere instantly.

With this topic I'm going to post, artists and their music that I've enjoyed for since I first got a radio and mono headphone back in 1976. Starting with Ireland and the Irish females

Luan Parle

Ghost

My Something Beautiful

Imelda May

It's Good To Be Alive

Wild Woman

Una Healy

Glad someone besides me likes what they are hearing. This first few presentations were things I discovered via the internet. Very few of them had North American airplay, The Coors, Celtic Woman, Van Morrison and Lordes are the only ones who got airplay and recognition on TV.

Westlife, B'Witched got the dreaded "Disney Band" tag which killed their career in North America. Samantha Mumba was a one hit wonder, same with Boyzone. The New Zealand artists rarely ever came north of the equator.
