How nice of James to Volunteer Tommy to go to Morgana's place and he's just to stupid to figure out why? Good proof some people shouldn't drink!. Love your use of Aussie Slang, all the TV shows I've seen from Australia use the terms the same way you are! Tell me would a merit brighten Tommy up any?

Thanks.  I've put a lot of research into making the Aussies sound authentic.  Though, if James ever let's a little Scottish slip out, we'll find out why in a few chapters.

Chapter 12

The rest of the week was like normal, except now the four of them were becoming friends.  The four of them were on a text group where they shared jokes and funny stories.  The young couple asked James for advice on what they should get for the condo.  They added each other on various social media platforms.  Surprisingly, James had an Instagram account.  Not surprisingly, it was just pictures of buildings.  On the surface, everything was on the up and up.

In reality, James was cooking something up.  Something big.  His plan was to have Tommy go over to young couple’s house, install the hidden cameras he ordered from Amazon under the guise of putting in new light fixtures, and test them while there.  Then, they would use these cameras to spy on the couple, get to know them.

James’s plan had two major flaws.  Equipment and Tommy.

When James saw the package on his doorstep Monday, he realized he had ordered 5 nanny cameras that were a little too large to hide.  This is what happens when a drunk man orders spy equipment while on his way to a drunken hookup.  These were nanny cams, not hidden cameras.  They were designed to be hidden but not too hidden.  They required being plugged into a wall outlet and would sit on a shelf.  What he needed were cameras that could tap into existing power lines or could draw power from some other source.

James fucked this one up.  He spent all night Monday researching cameras that he could get by Saturday.  He saw some really nice ones that could be installed in smoke detectors that would also function as detectors, but they wouldn’t be delivered for at least two weeks.  He eventually settled on some that would gator clip into existing power lines.  Problem with them is they were cheap.  Like, 1-and-a-half-star review on Amazon cheap.  According to all of the reviews they’d be lucky if they lasted 2 months.  He ordered both sets of cameras.  He also made a proposal for H2C to test and replace the smoke detectors in the Hilltop Acres condominiums.  He’d use that as an excuse to get in and personally put the good cameras in Morgana’s condo.

He also had an issue with getting the data out of the building.  He couldn’t tap into some random WiFi signal in the building.  Fortunately, the buildings had their own network for the security equipment.  He wanted to use that, but there was a problem.  Anyone monitoring the network traffic would see these new signals going to a website that just shouldn’t be there.  He needed a way to hide the traffic, and that would require a little help from his new friend Steve from Red Briar Security.

A quick conversation with Steve on Wednesday after a meeting about the new security requirements for the skyways helped James get things going.  James had a feeling that Steve was a bit of a pervert, but didn’t have any clue how much until then.  Steve would help James configure the network traffic so that the cams would point to a server on the dark web that Steve had access to that neither of them owned.  James would be granted access to it as long as Steve had access as well.  Steve gave James the credentials for the security network and the server to point the cameras to.  James would set them up and give them to Tommy on Friday after work.  They agreed to meet up Saturday morning at his new house.  Another friend of his, Sam, would be there and they would meet up for a workout.  They’d hang out, hit the gym, get something to eat after.  Once the cameras were installed, he’d do his IT thing and hide the traffic.

The hard part was getting Tommy on board with all of this.  Tommy was smitten with Morgana, but James felt that the younger man was deluding himself into thinking he stood a chance.  There was no way that Morgana was going to leave her husband for Tommy on a whim, no matter how good looking, funny, or smart he was.  It took James considerable time at the bar on Thursday night to convince Tommy to install the cameras, even if it was just as a backup.  Eventually, Tommy relented.  He would at least attempt to install the cameras, but if things went wrong, he’d abandon the task.  James figured as much, but this was better than nothing.

James configured the cameras Friday during lunch.  He didn’t recognize the server they were going to, and any attempts to find out just led him to some weird cooking blogs.  Why anyone would need a gluten-free recipe for Southern Fried Racoon Steak wasn’t a question he wanted an answer to.  He’d have to ask Steve about that in the morning.

Once James configured the cameras, he gave them to Tommy, along with instructions on how to wire them, the light fixtures, and how to start work on the backsplash.  But fixtures first.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tommy’s week started too early on Sunday with his phone buzzing with texts from Tammy.  He was still hung over when he saw a couple messages from her, thanking him for the good time and showing her one hell of a view.  They chatted for a bit, then agreed to grab something to eat.  He then saw that Morgana started a group chat with him, Drew, and James.  They talked for a bit throughout the day, and Tommy told them that he had a date later on.  Morgana sounded happy on her text about him getting some the night.  They talked for a while before the conversation turned to condo repairs.

The date with Tammy went well.  She was nice, though he admits she was better looking a few drinks into the night.  It was an okay date, not terrible, not great.  It was still good enough to end up at her place and in her bed before he went back to his place.

They saw each other two more times that week for dinner and sex.  She seemed to be more into what they were doing than he was.  It’s not that Tommy wasn’t interested, just, not as interested in Tammy as he was in Morgana.  By the third time they had sex, he was already imagining it was Morgana under him and not Tammy.  Not that these thoughts stopped him from fucking Tammy.

Tommy met up with James on Thursday after work.  Tommy had a feeling something was up, but was completely floored by James’s suggestion.  He would install hidden spy cameras in Morgana’s apartment.  He couldn’t believe it.  It felt like such a violation of trust.  At first, he fought against the idea, but the more he thought of it, the more he leaned into it.  What would it hurt?  He could always deny what they were, act like they were part of the wiring, or make up some other excuse like they were there when he started.  Besides, the more he thought of Morgana, the more he wanted her.  He would play it as the cool friend for now, but pretty soon he knew that he’d have to make a move if he wanted to have her.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The young couple woke up late Sunday morning.  Well, late for them.  When they got back from the party, Morgana was toeier than a Roman sandal, and Drew was more than willing to oblige.  They fucked on the couch, in the kitchen, and on the bed twice before they finally passed out.  Something was under her skin last night, and she had an itch that she needed to scratch.  Fortunately for her, Drew was the perfect tool to scratch her where she needed it.

After rolling out of bed, she decided to ask how everyone’s night was.  James said he had a pleasant night and got home late, and Tommy disclosed that he got him some the night before.  He didn’t go into too many details, but Morgana felt glad for him.  Maybe a tinge jealous, but definitely glad that he was happy.

The couple spent most of Sunday inside relaxing.  After how much they drank the night before, it was definitely a well-deserved break from everything.

Things were normal for the most part at the office for both of them.  Drew was, as always, up to his eyeballs in work and Morgana was busy training the newer people on the staff in the Auditing department.  That included the new guy, Mitch.  During one of their training sessions, she found out that Mitch and Tommy were friends going back to school.  It gave them something to talk about, and she felt like it helped open the new man up.

The only thing that wasn’t normal at the office this week was Morgana’s boss, Bianca.  She acted different on Monday.  She wasn’t her usual miserable self that day.  Morgana knew that Bianca was going through a rough divorce and her ex-husband was an asshole.  Their custody agreement for the moment is that she watches their 10-year-old daughter Cassie during the week and he watches her on the weekend.  However, he has a bad habit of “forgetting” his weekend or is “too busy” to take Cassie.  Perhaps it’s the fact that they have a court hearing coming up soon or the Asshole wanted to use Cassie as a prop for getting a date, but Bianca was able to enjoy her weekend for once.  Since she didn’t have any plans in place, she decided to show up to the soiree on Saturday.  She showed up, met some people, had a good time, and got drunk enough to hook up with some guy she just met.

Morgana was stunned.  She needed the details.  Bianca for the most part was cagey, but did tell her that he was a little older, Australian, had grey hair, and was pretty cute for his age.  His name was James.  “Not Jimmy, James.  Jimmy is for musician c-words who won’t grow up.”  He was pretty drunk but not too drunk.  They went to the hotel next door, rented a room, and got to business.  Bianca said it was “the best sex I’ve had in 2 years.  Only sex I’ve had in 2 years, but still pretty good.”  She then said that she slept with him for maybe an hour after that before she woke up, did the walk of shame, and went home.

The younger woman couldn’t believe it.  Her boss fucked Tommy’s boss.

Morgana asked Bianca if she could would she hook up with him again.  Bianca said no.  “Maybe later, when I’m done with this divorce shit, but I can’t deal with that right now.  Life is too crazy.  Besides, I don’t think I even know who he is.  I’d never seen him there before, or since.  Oh well.”  With that, Bianca changed the subject to asking about Morgana’s weekend.  The blonde left out the details about how many times she made love to her husband this past weekend, but the efforts were heavily implied.

They talked with James throughout the week about what they should get for the work that weekend.  The older man advised them on what to get from Home Depot.  For the most part, it was decent quality and matched their style.  As they were talking, she noticed that James was being a little coy when she asked him about his relationships, if he was seeing someone.  James admitted that he had sex with a gorgeous older woman Saturday night, but it wasn’t a big deal.  “I’m not one of these blokes that throws a parade every time they get their dick wet.  I’ve had sex before, I’ll have sex again.”  She mentioned that she might know who it was, but James shut that down quickly.  “Look, I’m not interested right now.  Maybe later, when things aren’t as crazy.”  With that, they kept shopping.

By Friday night, they had everything they needed from Home Depot, along with a case of beer, a couple bottles of wine, and some snacks.  They had no clue how long this would take, but figured they would probably order some pizza as a thank you to Tommy for working on their condo.

Chapter 13

Tommy arrived at Hilltop Acres in the early afternoon.  He spent most of the morning talking with Tammy and trying to get her to leave his place.  She seemed like she was a little hurt that he had plans with other friends, but Tommy didn’t want to spring this new girl on a couple new friends, especially when he had work to do.  He told her he’d talk to her later in the day, after he was finished working and hanging out.  So, he threw on a green H2C polo shirt, a pair of jeans, and his Nike Air Jordan tennis shoes.  Today, he would focus on the light fixtures and the cameras.

He felt insanely guilty about the last part, but James brought up some valid points Thursday night about how Morgana isn’t just going to fall for him, he needed to be in her mind, and what better way than to see what made her tick?  It was a good point, and Tommy would rather admit that than the fact that the more he thought of Morgana, the more he was willing to do to be with her.  He was worried that he would get caught, but he could bullshit his way out of that, say they were in there before and come up with a different plan.

Hilltop Acres was one of those fancy-looking condo plans that focused on style over substance.  The plan featured 8 buildings, each with either 6 townhouses or 6 condos.  The townhouses were vertically laid out while the apartments were horizontal.  Every other building switched, with the condos in the odd-numbered buildings and the townhouses in the even-numbered ones.  The landscaping was well-manicured, even for being this early in the year.  Bushes, trees, and flower beds lined the drive up the hill and the common areas.

There was a gate at the bottom of the hill that Tommy had to enter a maintenance code to get through, and Security didn’t ask too many questions when they saw his H2C truck.  Since Pharma owned both the company that owned the buildings and Harbor City Contracting, his work truck made sense being here.  He’s pretty sure if he was driving his personal car, they’d stop him and interrogate him.

Tommy drove up the hill until he reached his destination, building 7.  It sat on top of the hill, with a great view of some trees, a strip mall, and several car dealerships off in the distance.  He parked the truck in one of the unmarked guest spaces near the door.  He saw that most of the spaces in the lot had numbers painted in them.  Most likely assigned parking.  Condos and apartments love to control who parks on their property by restricting how many cars a person can own while living there.  It also worked to keep riff raff like college kids and working poor away.

He checked his toolbox.  It had everything he should need for some basic electrical work.  Drill, bits, screwdrivers, hammer, screws, multimeter, electrical tape, wire nuts, snips, pliers, and a few other odds and ends.  And, of course, the hidden cameras.  James gave him five and told him how to connect them.  He didn’t know if he’d be able to get all five installed.  Hell, he didn’t think he’d get one installed without some crazy Houdini shit.  But he’d give it a try.

Tommy exited his work truck with his toolbox and made his way to the door.  He had a security code he could use to get in, but he decided to be polite.  He buzzed the fifth button on the intercom, the one labeled “Williams.”  A moment later, a man’s voice came over the intercom.

“Oi?”

“Oi, it’s me.”  Tommy couldn’t help himself from saying Oi.  He’s been saying more and more Aussie things over the last few months.  Working for James was rubbing off on him.

The door buzzed.  Tommy opened it and made his way inside and up the stairs immediately to his left.  He walked up three flights of stairs to get to the top floor.  He was winded after climbing the steps while carrying his toolbox.  He stopped to catch his breath.  It was only after he exited the stairwell that he looked to the end of the hallway that he saw the elevator.

“Mother Fucker.”  Tommy dropped his head and shook it between gasps for air.  All those steps for nothing.

“Yeah, gets everyone the first time.”  Drew said from the doorway on Tommy’s right, the building’s left.  “C’mon in.”  Drew motioned Tommy to come in, and he gladly obliged.

Tommy was impressed.  From what he could see as he walked in, it was well-furnished and decorated.  The hardwood floors contrasted nicely with the white walls.

“C’mon mate, I’ll give ya the tour.”  Drew said, waving Tommy on.  Drew wore a pair of gym shorts, flip flops, and a dark polo shirt with a gold collar with a patch of some guy throwing lightning on it.  Tommy looked at it quizzically until he saw a sport of some kind being played on the television in the living room.  That’s when he saw Morgana.  She wore a similar shirt and shorter shorts.  He almost lost his train of thought, but she didn’t notice Tommy.  She was watching the game.  A couple beers sat open on the living room table.

“What’s on?”  Tommy asked, carrying his toolbox.

“Storm vs. Panthers.”  Drew said.  “NRL.  Melbourne Storm vs. Pennrith Panthers.  Rugby.  It’s like your football, but played by real men who don’t need pads and helmets and refs to protect the quarterback all day.  Wanna beer?”  Drew walked to the kitchen off of past the dining room.  Tommy put his toolbox down when Drew returned with the beer.

“Thanks.”  Tommy took the beer and had a sip.  It was Port City Pilsner.

“Morgie, Tommy’s here.”  Morgana looked up from the game and smiled at Tommy.

“Oi, glad’re here.  Pull up a…what the what the WHAT THE FOOK WAS THAT, ARE YOU FOOKIN’ BLIND?!”  Tommy had no clue what was going on in the game, but whatever it was really pissed of Morgana.  Drew checked out the replay. He was about to say something, but Morgana continued.  “HE WAS FOOKIN’ IN!  I’M 9 TIME ZONES AWAY AND I CAN SEE IT BETTER THAN THAT BLIND CUNT CALLING THE MATCH!  FOOKIN’ BULLSHIT!”

Tommy looked scared for a moment, but Drew just patted him on the shoulder.

“She gets a little worked up watching the Storm.  She played for a few years when she was younger.  What about you?  Ever play?”  Drew sipped his beer, and Tommy did the same.

“Nah.  I wasn’t much into football.  Tried out for the team before my growth spurt, but coach was a bit of a dick.  Played basketball instead.  Played a game of rugby one time in college.  Took an elbow to the head, don’t remember how the game ended.  You?”

“A bit, but I was more into Cricket.  Like baseball, but more confusing.  Here, lemme showya round.”

Drew led Tommy through the condo.  The Dining Room was right off of the Living Room and led to the kitchen.  This then led to the Laundry Room.  The guest bathroom was right off of the dining room and this led to the Guest Bedroom and a walk-in closet.  The Master Bedroom was off the main hallway to the right.  The On-suite Bathroom was great and looked like it was recently remodeled.  The Master had a walk-in of it’s own.  A balcony came off of the Living Room.  The utility closet was right off of the front hallway.

Tommy noticed that Drew felt more at ease at home, more relaxed. He let his accent through more naturally.  He felt like Drew was letting his guard down a bit.

“So, what’s the work today?”  Tommy asked after noticing a few boxes piled up in the guest bedroom.

“Well, last tenant put up some god-awful fans and we’d like to put up some new lights to replace them.  Nothing too crazy.  Maybe replace the chandelier in the dining room as well.  We can see how far things get before trying to tackle the backsplash.”  Drew said.

“Yep.”  Tommy noticed the fans.  They looked like they were picked by a colorblind Mr. Magoo.  They didn’t match the décor at all.  At least the ones Drew and Morgana picked looked nice.  He saw that there was one in the Dining Room, Master Bedroom, and Guest Bedroom.  Tommy then went to the utility closet.  “Mind if I check something out?”

“Nah, go ahead.”  Drew said, moving to the Living Room.  Tommy opened the utility closet and found the fuse box.  Each room had a separate circuit breaker except the Dining Room.  Tommy looked puzzled for a moment, but thought about it for a second.  The Dining Room had the smallest electrical load of any room in the condo and was attached to either the Kitchen, Living Room, Hallway, or Guest Bathroom.  Tommy guessed the Living Room, but that led to a conundrum.

“Hey, how much time is left in that game?”  He asked.

“About an hour, maybe two.”  Drew responded.

“Okay.  I’ll start in the bedrooms.  I need to turn off the electricity to the room to do this safely, and I’m not touching any of these breakers here.  She might kill us.”

“Agreed.  Start in the Master, then the Guest.  We’ll be here watching the game.  If you want a break, come on out and relax.”  Drew disappeared into the Guest Bedroom, then reappeared with a box.  He dropped it off in the Master Bedroom.  Tommy followed and saw the light fixture.  Drew returned to the Living Room and sat next to Morgana, who looked like she was ready to jump through the TV.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It took Tommy a few minutes to get his head straight, and figure out what he was doing with the light.  After turning off the breaker and opening the window, Tommy was able to check out the old ceiling fan and made relatively quick work of removing it.  The hard part was not dropping it on his head.

As he looked at the new fixture, he was relieved.  This wouldn’t be too difficult, he just had to figure out the spy cam.  Only problem was, how to install it without drawing Morgana or Drew’s attention.

“YOU STUPID FOOKIN’ RETARD CUNT!  HOW DID YOU NOT FOOKIN’ SEE THAT?!  THAT WAS A FOOKIN’ KNOCK-ON!”  Morgana screamed at the television loud enough to scare Tommy.  He used this as the reason to close the door and get to his real job.

Tommy unpacked the spy cameras from his toolbox and opened the fixture.  The cameras were about the size of a AAA battery with 3 wires coming out of them.  One ended in a plastic cap.  The other two, one black and one white, had gator clips crudely attached to them.

Next, Tommy opened the light fixture.  It was an LED light that looked like a traditional bedroom light, save for five black circles around it.  Those black circles looked a hell of a lot like the front of the spy camera.  Dark, shiny, and reflective.  Tommy thought for a second about why they picked these ones in particular until he remembered that James helped them pick them out.  He probably chose these fixtures so that the camera would blend into them.

He spread the parts out, and looked at them like a dog looks at an LS engine block.  He didn’t have a fucking clue what he was doing, and damn sure wasn’t going to get it right on the first try.  Tommy pulled out his phone and called the one person who might be able to walk him through this.

“The fook you want?”  James answered on the other end.

Nice to se a female character actually get into the game and not just for the "looks" of the players. Nice that Tommy is going to be alone to complete the job. Merit for making the story so realistic!

Chapter 14

James showed up at a brick Craftsman house in Empire, west of Harbor City.  It was a drab looking building, the brick a depressing shade of brown following years of neglect.  The yard looked like it was similarly neglected with large patches of brown scattered throughout.  The house was a two-story on a level lot with a small front porch.  A detached garage stood to the left of the house.  Three vehicles sat in the stone driveway.  The first was a Dodge Magnum sitting on jack stands which was parked close to the garage.  The next vehicle was a white Quad Cab RAM 1500 with “Red Briar Security” blazoned on the side.  The third vehicle was an older red Toyota Tacoma access cab with “Mapleton Realty” on the doors in white vinyl.  James parked his “Harbor City Contracting” F-150 work truck in front of the red Tacoma.

James hopped out of the truck.  He was dressed for a workout, just like Steve invited him over for.  Gym shorts, gray t-shirt, and tennis shoes.  He carried a bag with a change of clothes and some stuff to shower with him to the door.  He rang the doorbell, but it made some weird buzzing noise.  He knocked instead.

“Door’s open!”  A male voice came in from inside.  James didn’t recognize it, but followed the command and entered.

The house was relatively bare.  The living room had no furniture in it, only a couple boxes on hardwood floors.  James called out.  “Hello?”

“Come downstairs!”  There was the same voice again.

“Close the front door, go through the living room and dining room, then down the door in the kitchen and the steps, basement door is open.”  That was Steve.

James walked through the dining room.  It was empty except for some boxes.  The kitchen looked like it was remodeled sometime in the 90’s and was pretty bare.  James saw the basement and headed downstairs.  The basement was unfinished, but was set up with several workout machines, a free-weight bench, a stationary bike, a treadmill, and a wall of full-length mirrors.  A stereo was playing heavy metal, and a TV hung on one wall by the furnace.

In the center of the room, two men were working out on the free-weight bench.  Steve, dressed in a sleeveless t-shirt and black shorts, lay on the bench as he pushed a weight bar up.  Above him stood another man.  He was on the heavier side with thinning hair, and was dressed similar in an old t-shirt with the sleeves cut off and a pair of black workout shorts.

“Okay, one more, you got this.”  The chunky man said to Steve as he pushed the weight bar up one last time.  James saw the weight on it.  2 full plates of 20 kilos on each end, with a 20 kilo bar.  100 kilograms.  Or as the Yanks say, 225 pounds.  Steve pushed the bar up, then the chunky man helped him put the bar on its rest.  “Good job, bro, good job.”

Steve leaned up and rubbed the sweat off of his face with his shirt.  James had to admit, Steve was even more jacked without any sleeves.

“Oi, did ya rob a Planet Fitness or somethin’?”  James said as he walked over to the two men.  As he approached the chunky man, he extended his hand.  “James St. Croix.”

“Sam, Sam Mapleton.  Good to meet you.”  The two shook hands.  James was taller than Sam who stood about or 1.75 meters or 5’9”.  Steve was a couple inches taller, and James was the tallest of the three by two more inches.

“Sam’s a friend of mine.  He comes over, works out.”  Steve said as he stood up off of the bench and shook James’s hand.  “Thanks for coming over.”

“Thanks for havin’ me.”

“Yeah, with Steve’s help I’ve lost about a sixty pounds in the last year.  Still got a way to go, but not as big as I once was.”  Sam said.  James looked up and did the math quickly in his head to convert.  Even after living the States for years, he thought in Metric for almost everything.

“Sixty pounds, that’s 27 kilos.  Quoite impressive.”  Steve walked over to a mini fridge he had in the corner and grabbed a couple bottles of water.  James turned to Steve and kept talking.  “So, how long ya been ‘ere?”

“About a month.  Closed on the house a month ago, been unpacking ever since.  Bedroom is set up, kids rooms are set up, but the rest of the house is a work in progress.”  Steve handed James a bottle.  “What’s your normal workout like?”  James opened the bottle and took a sip before answering.

“Normally, I work all day.  Cloimb steps, scream at fuckwits, chase down wankers, shit like that.  Maybe a little cardio here and there.  Nothing like what you were doing.”  James pointed to the weight bench.

“That’s okay, everyone at their own pace.  We’ll work out for a bit, then get some food, maybe a drink or something later on.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The three men worked out for the next hour, rotating through the various machines.  James hadn’t been this tired in a while.  The three men bullshitted with each other to break the ice.  It seems like Sam and Steve met about a year ago and that Sam helped Steve buy this house for a discount.  They made a joke about how the last tenant was a single woman who was “extremely motivated” to move.  After she left, Sam sold the house to Steve.  The way they joked about her made James pay particular attention to how they described her.  She was single, in her 30’s, brunette, very skinny, and was apparently a screamer.

They talked about women for a while, and the three seemed to have a mutual fondness and displeasure of the fairer species.  They loved women, but hated putting up with their shit.  All three were single, though Steve asked Sam about his “Bubbly friend, Kim.”  Sam just said it was complicated.

James really wanted to know what they were talking about when his phone rang.  It was Tommy.  He answered it on speaker.

“The fook you want?”

“I gotta problem James.  I don’t know what I’m doing.  How do I install this thing?  I mean, how does this shit work?”  Tommy sounded flabbergasted.  A loud scream came from the other room, a woman yelling about some blind cunt being offside.

“Da fook?”  James asked.

“They’re watching rugby in the next room.  Well, she’s screaming at the TV and he’s watching quietly.”

“Oi, you’re on speaka ‘ere.  You on speaka?”  James asked, still hearing the screaming over the phone.

“No.”  Tommy said.

“Wait, she’s that loud?”  Sam said.

 “Whose playing?”  Steve said.

“Who was that?”  Tommy asked, his voice sounding scared that other people were listening.

“Never mind them.  Whose playin’?”  James asked.

“I don’t know.  Storm and cats.  They’re wearing a bunch of purple.”  Tommy said, sounding a little scared.

“Melbourne Storm.  NRL.  They’re playing the Panthers.  Fook the Panthers.”  James said.

“Fuck’em.”  Steve said.

“Fuck the Panthers.  Who are they?”  Sam added.  James chuckled a bit.

“James, I’m scared here.  I’m not sure how to hook these up.  There’s nothing to clip these these things on to, and they look shady as fuck.”  As Tommy said that, Steve stood up and walked towards James.  This sounded familiar to him.

“Just clip’em on to the wires, white to white and black to black.”  James said over the phone.

“I don’t want to cause a fire or short these things out, then cause a fire.”  Tommy said.  James was ready to call him a fanny or a daft twat, but Steve spoke up.

“Hey, mind if I…” Steve pointed to the phone.  James handed it to him.

“Tommy, it’s Steve.  You alone?  No one hears this?”  Steve said in a calm voice.

“Yeah.”

“Good.  I set up those cams you’ve got.  They’re a piece of shit, but they’ll work easily by ripping or cutting off the gator clips, stripping the wires a little, then connecting them in to the main wiring that the rest of the light fixture uses.  You should be able to connect them using the wire nuts provided for the light fixture.  Wrap them up with electrical tape to insulate them.  Then, slide the camera into position and connect it there.  Problem with those cameras is they only have a small battery and run best when the light is on.  They’ll have power for about 30 minutes in night mode before cutting out and recharge when there’s power from the switch.  Can you rip off the gator clips?”

“Yeah.  One sec.”  Steve could hear a little struggle come from over the phone.  “There, done.”

“Good.  Now, you have three wires on that camera.  One is the blue transmitter wire, one a black electrical and one a white electrical.  You’re going to connect the black wire to the black wire on the fixture and the white wire to the white wire.  Then, once those are connected, you’ll fit the camera into place.”  Steve kept his cool as he talked.  James was confused, and Sam was intrigued.

“What if I’m doing 2 with this fixture?”  Tommy asked.

“What do you mean?”  Steve responded.

“Well, these fixtures have 5 places this will fit and match.  I was thinking of having one out the side and one out the bottom.”  Steve was shaking his head before Tommy finished talking.

“Don’t.  Those are little fisheye lenses and the microphones will interfere with each other.  Best case scenario they’ll cancel each other out.  Worst case, they cause so much feedback that your target hears it and takes a look.  Just put one in either the bottom or the side.”  Steve said.  Tommy was silent for a moment.  When he spoke again, he used hushed tones.

“The side.  It’ll cover most of the room and see the bathroom, too.  Her side is the left side of the room and bed.  One second.”

The guys listened for a moment as Tommy did something on his end.  It sounded like he was putting the camera in place.

“Good, in place and connected.  Now, that third wire?”

“Try to make sure it’s not touching an unshielded wire.  Feed it in slowly into the light box then carefully connect the black and white wires to the connections you made earlier.  Use the wire nuts and tape.”

“One sec.”  A longer pause as Tommy did the wiring on his end.  Sam walked over to James and whispered.

“What’s going on?  Installing spy cameras?”  James stood for a moment, not sure how to react.  “She hot?”  James nodded, surprised by the question.  “Nice.”

“Okay, wires are connected.  Now I just screw the light in place, cover everything up, then put the power back on and test it?”

“Yep.  Once you do that, let me know, and I’ll test the connection from this end.  They’re pre-configured, but I don’t trust these ones.  Might last a month if you’re lucky.”  Steve said, not letting his disdain for these cheap cameras be hidden.

“One minute.”  Tommy was silent for a moment, then it was loud as he walked through the Living Room.  Morgana screamed something unintelligible at the television.  Tommy opened a door, flipped a breaker, then walked back to the Master Bedroom, closing the door behind him.  He turned the light on.  “It’s on.  And, I don’t see any smoke or fires yet.”

“That’s a good sign.  How many more lights you working on?”  Steve asked, sounding like he’s spent a decade walking people through setting up spy equipment over the phone.

“Two more, but I’m not touching the Dining Room chandelier until after this game.”  Tommy said. Steve nodded along.

“Good call.  Cut the power during the game and she might just kill you with your own tools.  Let me know when you get the others installed.  Call James back and I’ll make sure they’re working.  Talk to ya later.”

“Later.  Thanks.”

“Bye.”  Steve hung up the phone and handed it back to James.  “You know those cameras might last a month, maybe two if you’re lucky, right?”

James nodded.  “Yeah, I’m gettin’ some better ones, but they won’t be ‘ere for a couple weeks.  Then I need to get back in to install them.  That’ll be easy, though.”

“Why’s that?”  Sam asked as he walked over next to Steve.

“They’re smoke detectors, too.  I can put one in every room, tie them together, they’ll never know they’re there.  And I’ll make sure that the whole building gets new ones installed so there won’t be any suspicion.”  James said, slightly proud of his plan.

“Nice.”  Sam said.  “Grab a few extra of those cameras.  You know, just in case.”  The chunky man winked.

“Depends on the bandwidth.  There’s only so much traffic I can hide through the company router.  Anything more than a few streams here and there and it’ll draw suspicion.”  Steve said.

“What about another network, or hiding them among other streams?  Doesn’t the building have a security system of some sort?”  Sam asked.

“Not with cameras.”  Steve responded.

“Not yet.  What if we added cameras to the site?  Maybe even give people a chance to have ones installed in their apartments?  Then any feeds that come in would look like just normal customers.”  James replied.  Steve’s eyes lit up.

“And, some people will pay to do that.  Much easier to mask a stream among a couple hundred than a couple dozen.”

“Fook, make a pitch for this upgrade, I’ll see that it goes through.”  James smiled as he said that.

“Hell yeah.  This’ll be much easier to hide in the long term.  I can configure the servers from the Red Briar end of things to push to the other server for safe keeping.”  Steve replied.  Sam had a surprised look on his face while James looked a little confused.

“Yeah, what the fook was that about?  I followed the IP as far as I could, and I was on a secured server hosting a blog about roadkill recipes.  Ya got some strange hobbies if that’s yer soite.”

Sam’s face changed from surprised to petrified.  He knew something that he wasn’t telling James.  Steve turned and was about to say something when he received a notification on his phone.  He pulled it out and checked it.

“Looks like your boy did a good job.  First camera is up and showing a live feed.”  Steve pulled it up.  His eyes went wide.

“Holy shit!  Now I see why you did this.  Check this out.”  Steve showed the phone to Sam.  He whistled.

“And this is with that shitty little camera?”  He asked.  Steve nodded, then turned the phone to James.  It showed Morgana, wearing a tight purple polo shirt and very short shorts, looking up at the light, admiring it for a moment.  She then walked to her closet, bent over showing off her tight little ass, and picked up something from the floor.  It looked like a hoodie.  She threw it on the bed, then turned to the dresser next to the bed.  She opened a drawer and pulled out a sports bra.

Morgana turned toward her bed, in full view of the hidden camera.  She grabbed the bottom of her polo shirt and pulled it up and over her head.  She was naked from the waist up, showing off her full, beautiful tits.  She tossed the polo shirt on the bed, then pulled the sports bra on.  After a quick moment to adjust the girls, she grabbed her hoodie, a purple one with a Melbourne Storm logo on it and pulled it on over her head.  A quick adjustment of the sweater and pull of her hair from inside of the collar to free it and she was good to go.  She left the room, turning the light off behind her.

“Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, please tell me ya saved that.”  James said, breaking the silence.

“Yeah, it’s saved on the server.”  Steve replied.

“Who was that?  I’d like a piece of that ass.  Fuck.”  Sam said, admiring the hot blonde.

“Her name’s Morgana.  Tommy boy’s had a crush on her for a while, and I talked him into installing those cameras.  He’s gonna help me fuck’er.”  James said.  He couldn’t believe what he said.  He had no clue-

“Need a hand with that?  I’d love to make her scream.”  Sam said, barely taking his eyes off of the screen as they re-watched the footage of Morgana dressing.

“She’s probably more of a moaner.  We’ll find out later on, assuming these cameras don’t break.”  James said.

“I’ll cut my bid for the security install to cost plus expenses if I get to fuck her.”  Steve said.

“I think we can work out a deal on that.  Y’know, she’s probably not gonna root ya by choice.”  James replied.

“And?”  Sam and Steve said in stereo.  James smiled.  Sam and Steve looked at each other for a moment, then backed off for a second.  They spoke in hushed tones for a moment.  James couldn’t make out what they were saying.  Then they returned.  Steve spoke first.

“How serious are you about fucking her?  Like, how far you willing to go?”

James thought for a moment before he spoke.

“Considerin’ we already committed a couple felonies here with this little camera stunt and we’re going even further to have an excuse to bug’er pad, I’d say pretty fookin’ serious.”

Steve and Sam looked at each other and both nodded.

“Let’s talk about this over lunch.  You help build that IKEA table in the dining room, and Sam and I will make a couple calls.  We might be able to help you with this.  If you’re serious.  I can’t say more until lunch gets here.  Let’s go upstairs.”

With that, the three men walked upstairs.  Once in the kitchen, Steve grabbed his laptop and navigated to the Club’s website while Sam pulled up the burner phone app on his phone and talked to Pedro, the IT guy who seemed to run the Club.  James went to work on putting together a dining room set.

Good to see Tommy using his head about starting unwanted fire caused by his inexperience! So doesn't seeing Morgan topless almost pay for the camera's to begin with? Am I right in assuming that sex action isn't far off now that the cameras are installed! Loved the idea of home security feed, really surprising that it isn't already available! merit awarded from me!

Thanks.  The next couple chapters will show how things are going to progress for a while.  I have the main story arc laid out, working on the specific breakdowns.  There's a lot of setup in this story, but I like to go with having no more than a third of the story being the setup.  I'm a few chapters ahead on the writing, and the action is definitely heating up.  Chapter 15 will be up either later tonight or tomorrow.

Chapter 15

It took a couple hours for Tommy to finish installing the lights and cameras, as he had to wait for the game to finish.  At some point she changed out of her rugby shirt and into a hoodie because she felt that she was jinxing the team.  Tommy had no clue how a woman several thousand miles away watching a game on a tape delay wearing a specific shirt could possibly affect the outcome of a game that was decided long before any of them woke up, but he sure as hell didn’t want to find out how crazy her response could get.  He installed the camera in the guest room and waited patiently as the game finished before seeing which breaker controlled the Dining Room.  Turned out it was the kitchen.  Fortunately for him, he had prepped everything for this install, including the hidden camera before turning off the power.  All he had to do was turn off the juice, take down the existing light, and put this one in its place.  He was getting good at this.

Tommy turned the power back on and tested the light.  He texted James letting him know that everything was good to go.

Looking at the clock, it was getting late in the afternoon.  The three of them decided to skip trying to work on the backsplash and instead ordered pizza for dinner.  A short while later, a driver appeared with pizza, wings, and a salad.

They had a good time talking over dinner.  Tommy discovered that Morgana is a vegetarian, and that by extension Drew doesn’t get to eat meat that often, unless they’re eating out or getting takeout.  She had been a veggie since she was a teenager, but would slip off the wagon here and there, usually if they were out drinking late at night or at some special event.

Morgana asked Tommy about Tammy and how things were going with her.  Tommy blushed a little at that, but Morgana seemed like she was happy that Tommy was happy with someone.  He tried his best to act happy, but deep down he knew what it would take for him to be truly happy: Morgana.

Tommy talked about Tammy for just long enough for it to not be uncomfortable to change the subject.  He asked them about coming to the United States, what they missed, what they liked, etc.  Drew said what he missed most were the little things that made up the local culture, but he really liked the American mentality of ‘hold my beer’ when it came to doing something stupid.  That, and the food.  Morgana missed her friends and family the most, especially her bestie Tabitha and her sister Aislinn.  They’d talk as often as they could, but being 9 time zones away meant it didn’t always line up.  She’s glad that they’ve made some new friends here, but nothing would make her happier than having them come to visit.  Morgana showed Tommy a couple pictures of Aislinn.  She was very pretty.  She looked a lot like Morgana in the features, but her skin was a little darker, like she tanned easier.  Her brown hair was as long as her sisters when down, coming to the middle of her back.  Aislinn was a little skinnier than Morgana, and that’s saying something since Morgana was already pretty thin.  Aislinn looked like she lacked a little in the bosom compared to her sister, but they still looked good on her, especially in that bikini shot she showed him.  Morgana talked her sister up quite a bit to Tommy, and he agreed that she sounded pretty fun and if she ever came to the states, he’d like to meet her.  Morgana smiled at that, while Tommy thought about which one of the sisters was hotter, and instantly decided it was Morgana.  Besides, she’s here and Aislinn is in Melbourne.

Tommy asked some questions about Aussie culture, and answered the ones he could about American culture.  They answered his questions on some Australian tropes and phrases, and he answered their questions about the infamous Florida Man.  They asked about where he’s visited, and he shocked them when he told them that he didn’t have a passport, and that most Americans don’t.  Almost every type of physical destination is available in the U.S.  Mountains, rivers, islands, glaciers, canyons, giant lakes, bottomless pits, crazy roadside mascots, places where polar bears live, they’re all available in the states.

They talked about some places to visit, some things to see.  Tommy told them about the sports teams in Harbor City.  College sports were pretty big with Harbor City University being in a Power 5 conference, which means that all their sports teams are usually competitive.  The hockey team, the Harbor City Whalers, are usually pretty good and make the playoffs each year.  The baseball team, Harbor City Shorebirds, are on year 11 of a 5 year rebuild.  The basketball team, the Harbor City Storm, made it to the conference championship last year but are looking at some struggles this current season due to injuries.  And the less said about the Harbor City Bombers, the better.  Tommy was of the strong opinion that until the ownership changes, there’s no real reason to support the Bombers.  The culture was toxic at best, and the product on the field was a joke.  They recently hired a formerly successful college coach who was a scandal away from quitting due to medical issues, and the quarterback was accused of some crazy foot fetish stuff during a massage.  Still, he offered to go with them to some games if they wanted to.  He caught a weird look when he said “I’ll go, but I won’t root for them.”  That’s when he found out that root has a whole different meaning down under.

It was getting into the evening and Tommy was reading the cues that these two wanted to be alone.  They made their goodbyes, and Morgana looked a little sad that Tommy was leaving, but Drew had a look that said they’d find something to do after he left.  They agreed to try to meet up sometime soon for dinner, and they talked about inviting James.  All of them figured a day sometime in the coming week would work.

As Tommy made his way to the truck, he checked his messages.  Tammy texted him a couple times, asking if he was busy.  A couple other buddies texted asking if he wanted to hang out, and James sent him a message that directed him to a website and said “Call me when you’re free and clear.  Check this link when you get home, not before.  Use a VPN.  I’ll explain later.”

You would have thought that Tommy and the guys would have used a burner phone to contact each other right from the start of the install! Nice that Tommy stayed a while after the job to make it seem like he was being a good guy and not scheming. Merit from me!

You bring up a good point about the burners.  Thought the Club storyline, I've brought up the use of burners several times.  Main reason they didn't use them was no one knew what the other was doing at the beginning of the day.  James didn't know about the Club until, well, Chapter 16 which is getting posted soon.  Tommy won't know for a while.  As I'm writing Tommy, he's slowly being consumed by his obsession but he's still a good guy at this point.  He's a combination of the "good guy" we hear so much about and the embodiment of the phrase "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions."
