Rules of Halloween
« on: May 28, 2021, 12:50:56 PM »
Hello there, I know this is seems super early but I'm not the quickest of writers and I'm looking for a little bit of help or collaboration on a Halloween writing project. I have an idea for a sort of anthology style story to be released over the course of this coming October, where a pair of demons take human form on Halloween night and enforce "The Rules of Halloween." I envision this story to be more on the extreme side with violence, bad ends, and snuff of various victims over the course of the story. I'm open to a lot of different ideas and please respond to this post or message me if you have any questions regarding the project. But the biggest thing I'm looking for help on today is the rules themselves which would predicate the chapters or portions of the story. Below I'll list the rules I have currently but I'm still looking to workshop them and add a few more as well. Please let me know if you have any ideas and thank you in advance for any of your help!

Rules:

Always Check Your Candy

Never Mess With Decorations

Always Wear a Costume

Always Give Out Candy

Never Summon Demons

Respect the Dead

Don’t Walk Home Alone

Don’t Mess with People’s Costumes

Never Take Down Decorations Before Midnight

Ah so if people violate the rules the demons get to have their way with them. It could be told as an urban legend, but something about this year is special and causes the urban legend to become true. Since it's an urban legend, some of the rules wouldn't apply cause someone made them up as the story got told over and over again. And some rules were just forgotten.

I like this idea. There's a lot of ways you can go with it.

Definitely something along those lines, perhaps they only come out every so many years or it's triggered by a certain infraction of the rules.
