There are times when the cover owns the original and this just one such time

Blinded By The Light by Bruce Springsteen

The far superior cover by Manfred Mann's Earth Band

Oh definitely! Manfred Mann's Earth Band's version is FAR superior to Springsteen's original version.  Another Springsteen song that MMEB covered and kicked ass on was "I Came For You" from their 1980 "Chance" album.

As far as Suspicious Minds goes, will always love Elvis' original version, although I do really like Dwight Yoakam's version too. That reggae cover of "Kiss From a Rose" was really good! I liked it. Thank you for posting.

Here we have 70s glam-rockers, T. Rex, and their song, 20th Century Boy,

and Canadian alternative rockers, Chalk Circle covering it from about circa 1987, if I remember right.

Personally I love the cover better than the original! More of a true rock feel to it!

So who would you believe about an "American Woman"

The Guess Who

or Lenny Kravitz

I like a lot of Lenny Kravitz' stuff but "American Woman" is a song he should have left alone. I have never particularly liked it. He does not do the Guess Who justice, and the song seems to lose a lot of impact when done by an American artist.

So just let me say, I am a big fan of both Gordon Lightfoot and the Headstones. However, this is a Lightfoot classic the Headstones should have never attempted to cover. I am a bit of a purist, and in my view, the Headstones greatly disrespected this most iconic of Canadian songs. It is not a song that needs to be,  nor should it be, "rocked up".  They totally wrecked the sombre, dark atmosphere Gordon Lightfoot created, and which in my view, is what makes the song so great as a memorial to this tragic event. As a fellow Canadian artist, Hugh Dillon really should be ashamed of himself. That's my opinion anyway.

Gordon Lightfoot's original:

The Headstones version:

I could rape your pussy, but I'd be in and out in a few minutes. So I choose to rape your mind, and I'll be inside you forever!

I know it wrong but Hugh Dillion should go back to his acting career, he hasn't disgraced himself acting until covering this classic!

So who sang "I Don't want to miss A Thing" better and prevented 'Armageddon"

Mark Chestnut

Aerosmith

both Covers came out a week apart and help Number one on their respective chart. Depending where in the country you were one the version of was used in "Armageddon" as its main theme song!

No one is going to beat Donna’s version, but Debbie gives it a good shot and I just love her!!!
Blondie I feel Love

There is a video of me singing this for a school talent show too but maybe another time..... lol
