BBC - New Yorker reporter fired after exposing himself on Zoom
« on: November 12, 2020, 07:36:42 AM »
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-54912610

"Vice News, which broke the initial story, reported that senior colleagues had seen Mr Toobin masturbating while apparently on a separate video call...  After he was suspended last month Mr Toobin said he had believed himself to be off-camera during the incident.... In a statement to Vice last month, he said: "I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera....I believed I was not visible on Zoom," he told Vice. "I thought no-one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video."

I don't know why he couldn't 'wait' but....  lust and pleasure makes fools of all of us.
We live in a world where science fiction has become reality... But there is one realm that has remained invulnerable...  one activity that has been practiced with the same rites through out the ages.

This puzzled me too on a couple of levels.  First, you know you are on an office video conference, so you join it completely naked. That’s a voyeur wanting to expose himself to others.

Second, almost everyone masturbates, but like all things there is a time and place for it. A video conference with colleagues at work is not the place to whip it out and start jerking off.  There are thousands of webcam girls who would love to help you out.

Another aspect that is troubling is the seeming cavalier attitude of CNN, where he serves as a legal analyst, towards the whole affair.  If this would have been Shawn Hannity at Fox, you would never hear the end of it.

Hm….  good points darklord….  I just took his comments at face value and didn’t read he was naked during his Zoom meeting. I was just thinking that (even) I’ve been tempted to login here and read while working from home BUT never during meetings and certainly never even thinking anything physical!

If he was purposely showing himself then good he’s being punished but I can imagine accidents happening….

Years ago, my coworker forgot to put his headset on mute when he really needed to go. Or not too many steps further, imagining getting caught up with emotions. Have never happened to me and I hope I never but I’ve heard of at least two couples over just over 10 years getting let go for office affairs, or any number of news headlines about people getting caught because they were…. ‘busy’ in front of office windows working late at night. We are emotional and each have animal instinct inside...

I also agree with what you said about coverage.

Yes, those office affairs.   Like the rash of teachers having sex with students.  You would think they would learn not to be stupid and have it all on messages etc.

Oh true! Messages AND sending photos to hormonal teenage boys in real life?!

All the while, others have 'written' books while daydreaming during Zoom meetings...
