The June Writing contest

The June Writing contest.

Open to all storytellers, would-be, wannabe, first-time storytellers at RU. There is no restriction this month to stand-alone story in the competition this June.

1.   Stories are posted in the proper categories, and the links are submitted by the author in this thread for the June writing contest.
2.   The story must be original new material, and this will be its first posting. While any story used may be part of an ongoing tale, the entry should have a beginning middle and end.
3.   The story should be between 2500 and 5000 words.
4.   The story for this month must be submitted between Monday, June 1st, and Tuesday, June 30th.
5.    To stir your mind, think about having some reference to the following —
           A. A character reveals something about themselves a secret that drives action.
        B. Consider having an unlikely friendship between two characters.
           C. Include an unusual pet or animal.
(Remember these are only writing prompts not required aspects of the story)
6.   The story is to be posted in its proper category with a link and short description or hook for the story here.
7.   Please refrain from posting your story at other sites until the completion of the contest and voting.
8.    Voting is open to all registered RU members and will begin on July 1st and continue to July 15the.

Jump in with both feet, use your thumbs on your phone, a pen and paper, typewriter or the keyboard and your computer screen and write. A stick and writing in the dirt, works, I guess. Okay, eventually you’ll need to make the digital and post it, but how you create is up to you.

I humbly apologize for being late with this.

A thought for the coming months Millie. There is a wealth of material on the site but the stories tend to have a short shelf life before they are effectively forgotten. How about a challenge one or more months to delve down into the story cellar and post one of our favourite stories that we have written, either in a particular category or in any category? It might be fun to resurrect some older gems.

Suggestion noted, I'll work on at least one month we'll call it the Golden Oldies Writing Contest.

Maybe for July we can give that a-whirl.

Same boat. Just one more evening! Arghh!
The rumors about me are scurrilous, depraved rantings of a sick mind, and I categorically deny any sense of falsehood attributed to them.

I'll extend this months until Friday and post the voting options on Saturday. I might be able to get mine done then as well.

Yay, I got it in. This story's been sitting half-written on my hard drive for like three years now. But when I realized it would fit the contest nicely, it was time to finish it. Kudos to Millie, and thanks for the extension.
