Jess’s British Jewels!
« on: December 05, 2019, 12:04:09 PM »
So in this thread I’m going to only upload various music only from the UK
Some you may  have heard , some definitely not.

First up is a video I think is one of the best ever made.
The depravity and with a twist on the end.
It’s the Prodigy with Smack My Bitch Up or what some call Smack My Bits Up.
This version was banned for awhile and you’ll see why
RIP Keith Flint.

That would never play here due to the drug use and naked ladies!. The Prodigy was big here in Toronto but never really publicly promoted. most word of mouth from the club scene!

If it was me i would change the title to Jess's Crown Jewels! since you the queen of presenting British artists! ;)

I remember The Prodigy. They weren't huge in Canada but had some airplay. Really too bad they weren't bigger. Yeah a video like that would never make it in North America. Too many prudes.
I could rape your pussy, but I'd be in and out in a few minutes. So I choose to rape your mind, and I'll be inside you forever!

I’m told around the time I was born Britain was in a bad way
Thatcher was crippling the working class, and the industries
The Troubles were still in full flight, and the political unrest and danger at the football games was at a new low

It’s the Clash and the very anti establishment track
This Is England

Now that can be used to both show how far thing have come  and as a jumping point for a history project into British history! A great jewel in your bright crown!

Never heard of them nor the song. And don't take this the wrong way- Wish I could still say that, Too repetitive for my liking!

Nothing says Christmas in the UK than this.
Overplayed like all festive hits but it reeks of pine and tinsel
“Look to the future for its only just begun”

It’s Slade and Merry Christmas Everybody!
Can’t say I know anything else they did, but they were apparently quite big in the 70s

Slade were pretty big in the glam rock scene of the early 70s with other bands like Mott the Hoople, T. Rex, and Sweet. Two of their more notable hits were Cum On Feel The Noize and Mama We'er All Crazee Now. Both of those songs were re-done in the 1980s by American heavy metal band, Quiet Riot and turned into huge hits for them. In 1984 Slade had a bit of a comeback themselves with their album, Get Your Hands Off My Power Supply and the hit single, Run, Run Away.  Thanks for posting this little Christmas gem from Slade. I haven't heard it in a long time.

Another one by the Prodigy
And this one reminds me of when i was 16-17 and allowed into this club in Devon. It was barely more than a glorified shed. ID wasn’t an issue, as long as your skirt was short enough you were let in.
It served only cans sometimes, or the WKDs that got us so drunk despite being only 4% alcohol
Or was it was the vodka we had in our handbags
Then after the horrid dancing we’d pile into a designated drivers  Vauxhall Nova, (A four seater hatchback) and got dropped home, after an hour of the rough backroads, 6 of us piled in as the car felt every bump. Music blaring and cigarette smoke everywhere. I remember my friends mixtape had this and this reminds me of going home at 3 in the morning, and pretending not to be wobbly at my mums door. As my mum says “God be with the days”

Prodigy Out Of Space

Divine Inspiration The Way that’s what used to play that summer.

Really feeling the nostalgia tonight. Total West Country Madness.

You know my feelings on the Prodigy have to say they extend to Divine Inspirations also, Maybe it's my age  but trance, Eurobeat music does nothing but annoy me!. That aside I do see who they would influence youth  of the day just like the Rod Stewart, Fleetwood Mac and Disco did the youth of my time!
