love
« on: May 23, 2019, 07:36:24 AM »
I cannot really feel love. Not due to some trauma or anything really. I simply cannot feel love. I don't believe in love, tending to think it's more of a myth and a sick joke.
I don't tend to have compassion nor empathy for many humans.

It's all illogical and quite alien to me.

Many feel it's a rather sad thing. However, I believe such emotions as love, compassion and empathy, blinds one to reality and logic.

Diplomacy is not my strongest attribute. When pushed by self interests though I could grit my teeth and bear it.
But I consider diplomacy an utter weakness.

As I do with crying.
With me, only crying under extreme physical agony is understandable and acceptable.
Crying for any other reason, especially in public, is an utter act of cowardice and weakness, which leads to exploitation by one's enemies.

Have you considered you might be a psychopath?  You've just described many of the traits.

I don't necessarily believe in love either. There's definitely connections between humans which encourages empathy and loyalty and things like that, which is an adaptation for success. Love makes sense because tribes and kids are more likely to survive with loving parents and connects etc. Inset other scientific reasons here. So I think love is just a term for an emotional state where you feel connected to, loyalty to, compassion for etc. a person, to a degree where they become a priority, which when reciprocated, creates a more powerful unit. And then you can interpret that in a million ways and have different combos of feelings, but it's certainly not an actual emotion which is the same for everyone. It's an undefinable descriptor.

Crying is another cool adaptation I learnt about fairly recently actually. It's an act of submission. You don't really cry when you're facing danger or threat from strangers. You cry when either you know the perpetrator, or after the event when you're safe. It's debilitating, the eyes are blurred by tears, and it taps into other humans (with empathy) to show you need support. If they step up, you improve the connections mentioned above, in a mutual way. So while it is weakness, it's weakness which can result in a stronger unit. And humans have only succeeded because of their teamwork … so we cry for a reason.

As Arny said … "I know now why you cry. But it's something I could never do". Maybe that should be your motto?  ;D

Love..my definition which can be found in any DICKtionary is.... an emotion felt by one for something ..it can be for themselves. Or food, alcohol , drugs , sex, sport teams. Most anything. It IS not weird to say you don't or cannot love. Nor is it dumb. But then, life is still going for you, so there's still time. I believe there is the perfect mate for everyone in this world..

Displaying traits that mark one as a sociopath or psychopath or borderline, or any other "labels" is not something one should put stock in. If you really had one of those labels, the very last thing you'd do, is find proof that you are one..

There's not someone for everyone. Increasing population on Earth remain alone all their lives. And some people, like me, perhaps, are probably incapable of love.
I've been seeing a shrink for awhile now, due to end in a month, I'm diagnosed BP, but find current therapy of no significant aid whatsoever.
"Change your outlook. Evolve!" into another blind sheep of society, conforming to the politically correct liberal pacifists...?! Be part of the bleeding hearts brigade and sympathise with the enemy, the criminals and all in order to fit in?
Heh yeah but no thanks.
Asked why attend counselling if not to explore and change. Good question actually. And I ain't got a damn clue!
I may well be a sociopathic psychopath with bpd. Not something to be proud of, but nor to be denied either.
