Okay, I'll move away from Australian music for now, and introduce you to Brits Jamie Catto and Duncan Bridgeman, a.k.a. 1 Giant Leap. The project is interesting, as when they did both albums, they also made accompanying films (which I don't have), and both dealt with a lot of philosophy alongside and within the songs. Additionally, they travelled the world to record these songs, so there's quite a mix of feature artists and musicians.

This one is from their eponymous debut, and it features the Mahotella Queens from South Africa, Eddi Reader from the UK, and Revetti Sakalar from India. There are also vocals from Pops Mohamed from South Africa (who also provided bird calls) and Yeye from Ghana, but they were excluded from the feature spot on the album. (I've also gone with the album version instead of the clip, as the clip version removes one of Eddi's verses, and adds a lot of additional philosophising; I think itwas a rip from the film.)

Never heard of 1 Giant Leap but a very unique World Music sound.

Another song I'm going to pass along to friends. You keep it up and I won't have to research for a long time!

Very interesting since no one genre over take another a perfect blend of styles!

I'm glad I can help you out there. A lot of what I find comes from the two national broadcasters, who can afford to follow the left-of-centre line when it comes to music, some of it from picking friends' brains and CD collections, and some of it comes from just searching through YouTube, with a small few coming from music playlists. It also helps I have friends in the business too. (Spook is an exception; I found out about them from Wikipedia, just don't ask how.)

Speaking of friends, let's have a couple. For the first one, the singer is a friend of mine. She has quite a soulful voice. (You may need to turn the sound up; seems a little quiet to me for some reason.)

Roshani - Paid in Ink

Now the second one, the drummer is a friend. Small note, if you watched Roshani's video first, you may have a mild case of stylistic whiplash, as this is viking folk metal. I do apologise if that happens.

Trollgasm - Hummpa Hummpa!

Roshani was a huskier version of Joss Stone. Want to hear more from her since you failed to mention that she was a contestant on X-Factor Australia! By the sound of it she's a all-round singing talent!

Loved the music of Trollgasm, as per the genre style the lyrics were in places hard to understand but did like what I heard, not that much different than Celtic metal!

Yeah, the entire mess with Roshani on X-Factor was actually pretty unfair on her. She didn't get as far as she was worth in the final twelve because one of the judges couldn't get past the fact that she was from Tamworth and yet not a country singer. Annoyed me to no end, because he just kept with the stereotype, and the voters just bought it. She did, however, get a chance to meet her biological mother in India; there's video of that on YouTube. (Same cannot be said of her music, though; there were only two songs on there, three if you can find the clip for Devil n Gin. You might find it easier to find her album Paid in Ink.)

Sadly that was the only single they released. They ended up splitting up from personal differences.

Now, another song for everyone.

[sigh] I'm sorry about that, CHG; I really didn't expect that to happen.

It happens more times than you think Army. In this case it's the uploader who failed to click the view by world tab.Other cases it's the source itself, Universal Music Australia won't allow Universal Canada to distribute their artists over a copyright dispute.

I fear, in this case, it's probably the latter.

Okay, let's cheer up a bit, and go full chap! Chap-hop is basically what hip-hop would probably sound like if it had been invented by Victorian-era gentlemen. These two artists, Professor Elemental and Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer, are the two most prominent chap-hoppers. Like any other hip-hop artists, they've also had their "feud" with each other (if it could be called that). This song brought it all to a very comical head.
