This is old, pay no attention to people going on about needing five posts.

RU stopped limiting the ability to send and receive PM's based on post count long ago.

At this point there are just 3 boards that remain invisible if you have less than 5 posts, and I will be increasing this to 25.  These areas include private member content that should not be viewed by the merely curious.  The content on these boards is only for real members of our community.  If I see any bullshit posts just to get access to these areas I might ban you.

This board has no links to downloads anymore, so please don't waste your five posts just to find something we don't have.

The PMs work, but my wife just joined (finally) and there are still plenty of board functions that seem to be non-functioning for now. But at thanks for solving the PM problem.

(We're in different states right now, so I can't quickly say which parts.)

Definitely she couldn't click who's online and see what folks are viewing. Some of the rest was probably because she timed out and didn't know it. But I'll be happy to take a look around with a fresh account tomorrow.

Edit: No, I'll do it now. I've just created a test account. Right away I see that the Search, Members, and Map buttons do not appear for a member with no posts. Be right back. I'm doing side-by-side comparisons on two monitors.

Next Edit: Okay, at the bottom of the home screen, I cannot see [More Stats], though I can see the most recent posts. I can see the members active and click on their profiles, but not on the big list that says what everyone is doing.

Also, oddly enough, the Tips for Free Sites board is not visible yet. Now let's add some posts and see what happens and when.

Final Report: Well, going up to five posts resolves all of these. I think as an experienced board user I have probably spotted all of it, though I did nearly miss the Tips for Free Sites being missing. At five, the full functionality comes to life. I even deleted one to pop back to four, and it went to reduced functionality once more. Going back to five again fixed everything.

So, the Search, Members, Map, [More Stats], a clickable link on numbers of guests and users, as well as the Tips for Free Sites boards all seem to be non-functional for users with fewer than five posts.

I don't like guys looking for just hook-ups (like ROberto) spamming members before either have become a part of our community.  So I like that newbies cannot see the member list to send their spam.

So now 50 posts (Sophomore) are needed to view the member list.

I just did a check with my test account, and I can still view it with only five posts.

Got a buddy request and PM from someone with only 1 post, so all those times we've been telling people you need 5 posts seems rather stupid now.

...due to the problem I am experiencing at the momet  I looked around and found this post...if the above stands true then chances are that my account has been hacked?

If RU stopped limiting the ability to send and receive PM based on post counting long ago... why do I get the message that I have exeeded the 6 number of posts per hour? I PM reguarly lately with one registered user I have no idea if she receive my post and if I receive hers...after 2.30 pm indian time have not been able to send PM even though they appear in my outbox...
very strange...
Hope to get the help I need to understand this issue...

Sam, this issue is about an old rule that said you had to have made five posts on your account before you gained access to the PM feature at all. This is no longer the case.

What you're experiencing is the six PM per hour limit that is enforced by the board hosting hardware. Lois has the limit set as high as possible, but the servers that host RavishU and many other boards don't want their resources used sending gobs and gobs of PMs like they were emails.

I don't think your account was hacked. Just remember that six PMs an hour is the maximum we are capable of giving you.

The map thing never really worked. Tried to pin myself to it without success. Forgot where it was

No Deadsexy that is standard. It was done to prevent someone from harassing someone by blowing up their PM box. It why i highly suggest if you start a conversation via Pm move it to the chatroom and go private. Unlimited time and posting allowed there!
