A few years ago, I started a story that involved Ukraine and Russia with a sexy forced situation when a border crossing went wrong. I chose the set and setting with no other intention than to feature some hot Eastern Europe girls in a precarious situation. Now with current world events, I wouldn't be able to finish the story. I very much keep this kink in the fantasy, but even introducing contemporary world events like the war would go a little bit beyond fantasy for me.
Everyone has their own tastes and limitations. As long as real people aren't being harmed, I generally am not one to kink shame.
I don't have a problem with that, actually. I sometimes joke with current events and write stories based on them. Even though from when the story is planned to when it is in fact written, the "current event" may not be so current anymore.
