The Pacu is common in the aquarium trade, but most who buy this fish are unaware it gets bigger than most aquariums can handle. I never heard of it having an affinity for human testicles. Sounds fun but I'm not sure I believe it. Even less believable is that a Pacu from the Amazon could survive a Swedish winter.
They banned an Asian fish called a Snakehead in the aquarium trade in my area of Maryland, U.S. a while back after some were released and caused problems eating all the other fish.
Thanks for posting that Geno. I'll make sure I don't stick my balls in the Pacu tank at my local aquarium store.....LOL
Geez, it's getting so you can't even stick your balls in a fish tank these days...
I agree that it's all rather unlikely/exaggerated. I've just done a bit of reading about the Pacu and there's never been a documented case of testicle removal. There was a case of a child being bitten on the finger (luckily the finger survived) and yes Pacu certainly have teeth, but... there has never been a documented case of ''testiclectomy''. After all, if they were tempted to eat bits of humans that dangled in the water then why not penises or nipples (or breasts)?
I tend to think that because Pacu eat nuts that someone has decided that maybe somehow they can create an urban legend about fish that feast on
human nuts.
