I don't disagree,but I am surprised that they actually dropped stautory rape charge based on that reason.

Well...I'm sure it would have been different if it had been forcible rape, instead of statutory.  If she deliberately misled him, how can he be held accountable for not having all the information?  I'm glad they ruled this correctly.
