11/21 Michigan A suspected rapist had to be pulled from a Dearborn courtroom Wednesday after he made an obscene gesture at TV cameras and then ranted with outrageous language to match.
Kenneth Gunther, 28, was arraigned in 19th District Court on 11 criminal counts in connection with a September sex assault. He's also facing charges for a sex assault in Dearborn Heights.
Gunther appeared startled and angered by news cameras when he entered the courtroom. He flashed both middle fingers to the cameras and asked police officers, "Why are all these f---- cameras in here?"
Strangely, he then turned toward the gallery and conducted a brief conversation in sign language with a woman believed to be his girlfriend.
WXYZ.com has learned he signed the following statements in the conversation: "I'm gone for life... Tell (your) kids I love them... Tell J.J. I love him."
But his attention quickly shifted back to the media. "If I was innocent, I'm guilty now," he said. "You're saying I'm guilty with these cameras."The judge attempted to quiet Gunther and continue the arraignment, but it fell apart when the suspect announced, "I'm not going to answer any questions until you all get these f----- cameras out of here!"
He followed that by repeatedly declaring, "They're f------ me!" The judge ordered officers to remove him from court until he cooled down. The arraignment was eventually completed.
