It may be a "he said/she said" case, but I find it difficult to believe a 13 year old girl was up for a gang bang.  It's POSSIBLE, but in my opinion HIGHLY UNLIKELY!  And if there are bruises from the punches she claims were thrown......well, that would tend to sway me.

I doubt it was consensual, as a 13 year old girl cannot give consent.  Also the boys, though teens, was a good deal older.

Much is not said as well.  Like: how long had they known her?  Given the age difference, I doubt they hung out much.  How can you know if a girl is consenting or just acting out of fear during a random encounter?

As for charging the boys as adults - what's with this?  I can understand with certain repeat offenders where the juvenile court system has failed to work, but why destroy lives at such an early age?  There is a reason we have a juvenile justice system in this country - because children have a much higher ability to be rehabilitated.

While I understand that some crimes are so egregious as to warrant a "Hang 'em high" reaction, the "try 'em as adults" solution is being way overused.  What is going on in this country?
So much oppression in our culture is based on shame about sex: the oppression of women, of cultural minorities, oppression in the name of the (presumably asexual) family, oppression of sexual minorities. We are all oppressed. We have all been taught, one way or another, that our desires, our bodies, our sexualities, are shameful. What better way to defeat oppression than to get together in communities and celebrate the wonders of sex?

I agree. I don't think she consented at all. There is another article that speaks about the school conducting its OWN INVESTIGATION and evidence collection BEFORE calling police!! What the hell is up with that? I'll find article.
