General Contest Rules:

Hello, and welcome to the July Contest, which was going to be titled, "Let's Renovate!", until I realised just how oblique that title was compared to the topic description. This topic arose from a conversation I had with Eljorn before he went on holidays, where I promised to "renovate the chatroom." (I'll gladly explain the logic behind that statement in a PM for all who ask.)

Requirements for this contest are:

You have between the times stated at the top to write and submit below. To keep things clean here, any questions you have can be PM'd to me, and I will put answers in the next post below; please do not clog this thread with questions and requests for clarification.

Happy writing, everyone.

Hang on, do you mean all action?

Yep, all story action, not just sex. This is what's known as a Bottle Episode, where everything takes place in a single locale (in this case, a room). I think the best example of this would be the Twilight Zone episode, "Five Characters in Search of an Exit", which took place almost entirely in a single cylindrical "room". (There are better examples; that was just the one that came to mind.) That's the kind of thing we're looking at here.

That said, you can refer to events outside the room, within limits. Brief references, like, "How did she get here? She had been walking to the shops moments ago." are fine, but flashbacks are not.

What are you counting as a room?

As I said, anywhere that has a full compliment of walls, a ceiling, a floor, and at least one door in and out of the room. This is a pretty straightforward, but then, there are people who'll try and bend the rules. Fortunately, I did have a think about this possibility when I wrote it up, so here are examples of what I will accept as "loophole abuses":
What won't be counted as a room includes:

Good luck having taken over the Monthly Story Contest. I hope you're able to draw more writers in, especially with the new limitations placed on the stories. I won't be joining in, I don't write that way.

Offered up for your consideration, a story of a fathers love for his daughter and her love of him. Alone in a darkened room they share passions fires.

Beyond desire, beyond obsession, their love is everything, raw and taboo, they consummate their needs.

I'll give it a shot. I had this one briefly started months ago, so what better reason to flesh it out and finish it.

Thanks Millie.

Yes, there are (at time of writing) about 39 hours left to submit your entry; that puts the time at midnight August 1st UTC (10am August 1 AEST, 5pm July 31 PDT). I'll have the next competition details up a little before then, and (hopefully) the vote for this competition a little after.

Looks like I'm going to miss this deadline.  Once again, another one of my "short" stories gets out of hand and turns into a scene from War and Peace.  I'll post it once it's finished.  It's a bit of a departure from my regular stuff, a first person account of one of the faceless people at a gangbang.
