April’s 2021 Once and Future Contest

April’s Once and Future Contest

The Once and Future King, published in 1958, was a collection of four reworked novels by  T. H. White. The four novels received major revisions from their original publications. These stories were, in turn, updates of the 1485 book Le Morte d’Arthur by Sir Thomas Malory.

What has this to do with our monthly contest, a lot. You have your choice of any story you have published in the past. The story can be any length. You may enter it as is or do a rework of the work. I suggest reworks (in keeping with the theme) to identifying that said story is a rework, put one of the following words in the title, Reworked, Reimagined, Redux, Redo, Re-envisioned.

No writing prompts this month.

Pick your favorite or your least beloved story, post as is, or better still, as you wanted it to be.

Three Questions:

Does the story have to be a rework on one we've published here?

Does it have to be one that we've published at all?

Does it have to be something we wrote originally?  That is, could we rework another story or piece of media?

Still working on my latest cycle of "Celeb Tgurls", I'd like to submit "Celeb Tgurls 27: Selena Gomez":

Next month I'll try for stand alone stories, and hopefully post more than just two . . .

It has to be something you've posted this month on RU.

If you want to rewrite a story you wrote or someone else wrote, fine, just don't forget to post it and then submit it for this month's contest.

It has to have been published here before (Usually your own work) and it is preferable that it be a rework of that.

I had edited on a story to  post it, but as life tends to do, I got to busy to work on the thing. Once I had free time again, though precious little, I started on story I outlined sometime back. The jest of it is, I won't be entering this month. I'll try to finish this new story before the end of next month and enter it.

I submit a reworked and considerably expanded version of Life Changes - An English Rose for the April contest. It was fun to select and rework an old story, so thank you Millie for the great idea.

Disappointing turn out for April. At least the stories are top notch.
