There's not much I can say about this song. It's the only one from this group I've heard, and as far as I can tell, while it's highly regarded, and probably the best known, I think there are others in their back catalogue that are more highly appreciated by fans.

I'm not even sure how to classify this. These guys are a comedy duo, specialising in sound effects and physical comedy, so to see them do this was a little strange.

En Vogue- A proven winner of a song that many artists would kill to have. A song still relevant decades after the initial release!

Skunk Anise- Did do anything for me

Umbilical Brothers- personally i would classify this as comedic novelty song. Had some great moments, a catchy tune and fun video to watch!

Well, yes, that is what it is, but...

Actually, I can't remember what I was thinking when I wrote that; it was late at night, I was stupidly (but unintentionally) depriving myself of sleep, and I just decided to post it because my brain put that on play.

Okay, originally I was going to put up "I Can't Dance", as a fitting follow up to the above song, but I was linked to this on, and it seems to fit the current situation more appropriately. I also heard the Disturbed version, but original is (usually) best, right?

Yeah, original is best, although the melody really works in a lot of styles.

Here's In Flames' version:

Blocked to Canadian viewers but I know the video like the back of my hand. Great wrap up of the Reagan era when America was the cowboy of the world! For this one i would say the original is the best, video can't be beat for both originality and the use of "Splitting Image" Puppets!

According to research, Phil commissioned the Spitting Image puppeteers to do the clip after seeing their take on him.

I'll focus on the chorus here. I first heard it on Alcazar's "This Is The World We Live In"; now that I know from where they lifted it, I'm very angry at the band and especially the songwriters, as they've disarmed a potent statement by making it about clubs and discotheques.

Okay, imagine the scene: I'm 17 years old (don't laugh, just run with it). I'm home alone, heading to bed. I notice it's time for Rage (the music show on the ABC, usually on late at night). I turn it on, switch off the light. This video comes.

And I spend the next three minutes watching it in utter fear. (Again, don't laugh.)

I remember when "RockIt" premiered on "Toronto Rocks" After it was over I was questioning what the hell just finished playing. swearing to anyone who was around that i wasn't going to subscribed to "MuchMusic" if that was the kind of shit they played daily! To this day i wonder what made them think that this was the way to market music!

I will grant you at least that Rockit was an odd composition for a jazz musician; way too electronic.

Of course, this comes from a guy who went from jazz to trip-hop, although the jump makes a bit more sense there, especially when you consider one of my favourite bands is Portishead.

Okay, I wanted to leave this one for my wedding anniversary, but I can't wait that long, so I'm putting it up now, as number 100 on the Internal iPod. (3 years...yeah, that's nothing to many of you guys.)

About the only band from New Zealand to have an impact on the Canadian Market- Very popular club band in the Toronto area in the late seventies through mid eighties even before the invention of Muchmusic. Already merited you for your story so I'll have to wait til later to merit this!

I'm listening to my wife trying to learn the words to this song (in Finnish, of course, despite the fact she cannot speak a lick of the language), and she openly admits it's hard.
