You know, that is highly possible. I wonder if there's a way to auto-send a PM to new arrivals explaining how to quickly block PMs from unwanted senders, just in case.

Perhaps an experiment is in order.

Someone might consider setting up a (female) test profile and creating an introduction, and seeing what kinds of PMs newbies receive when they arrive.

Most sites frown on multiple accounts, and I doubt RU is any different, so the test profile would likely need to be created by an administrator/moderator.

That's about the only way to test the 'fucked up messages' theory. It's not like the newbies who came and went are still around to ask!

It would be interesting to try. I only got a couple weird ass messages when I joined but I was pretty mean and they never spoke to me again. I've seen a couple people who joined and said the site was confusing and left, but this girl said she'd been stalking for awhile so I doubt that was the case. Our welcoming committee just isn't what it used to be though, so I guess we all need to dial it in! Haha

I haven't gotten many weird-ass messages. A couple small ones commenting on my username -- first with Daizy and then Ishtar -- but nothing bizarre.
I don't discount the women that have -- in fact, I'm just going to thank my lucky stars that I haven't had to deal with them. They'd probably give me a good laugh.
