The whole film is about showing a rape, and how it can transpire, from grooming to act, and then the fallout. It never paints the picture of it being consensual or something good - not even close. She doesn't say "stop", but that really doesn't matter. She's uncomfortable, asks him if he thinks her body is weird, he lavishes her with compliments then starts touching and kissing her, to which she says "no", and "wait", and tries to struggle against him.
15 is "legal" in many parts of the world, so it isn't automatically statutory.
I never said the film painted that picture - I was talking about OP. I understand the film and its message... believe me. That's why I'm very confused as to how OP is viewing this as consensual sex. Even if you exclude the statutory rape, which you absolutely shouldn't because, and correct me if my quick google search is wrong but the lowest age of consent I saw in the US (where the film is set) was sixteen. I'm not sure about close age exemptions though, not that applies in this case anyway because she was fifteen and the man was in his mid-thirties or so.
My problem is that OP seems to be under the impression that the sex was consensual based on how he viewed the film and I'm failing to understand how anyone could come away with that impression. Thank you for refreshing my memory on the specifics of the scene, but yeah... saying 'no' while she tries to struggle against him isn't exactly ambiguous or at least, it shouldn't be.
I mean, put yourself in that situation for a moment. If you're kissing and forcing yourself unto a girl while she says 'No' and is struggling, would you continue? Would you think that's her consenting to sex? I could maybe see an argument for it if she said nothing and wasn't struggling, but like, that's not what happened in the film. That's why I'm hella confused as to how OP sees that and walks away with the impression that the character gave her consent and how this
could be considered rape. The statutory thing is mostly irrelevant to this scene because it's
clearly non-consensual sex to begin with though.
Also, I don't know the age of consent in the US because it varies State-to-State I believe but the film is set in the US, so the world's laws don't apply to this specific scene. Also, I'm almost 99% sure that Kizzy is an American, so he's not coming at this with a different country's laws influencing his view on what constitutes statutory rape either.
Plus there's the whole mess of him filming the sex without her knowledge/consent. Not that a teenager below eighteen can consent to that because it's a production of child porn.
