For an in-depth analysis of how the climate of political correctness at Duke worsened this sordid affair, read:

It would behove us to study how the Bolsheviks took over Russia and imposed their "correct" ideology on a whole country!

Thanks, yin.

And...while I can agree with this bit:  "We need both actual rapists to be caught and convicted and those who pose as rape victims to be punished for doing so.", I'm hesitant to put rape victims through yet another hoop after their ordeals.  First they're raped, then they have to get examined physically, then they get asked to recall the entire event, numerous times, as they're questioned by the police.  Then, with a sort of "we don't believe you" vibe, they should be asked to undergo another test?  It's not that I have any problem with the idea of weeding out the false claims.  I'd love it if we could do so.  But I really don't want to make it even harder for women to come forward about having been raped, you know?

Not to mention the fact that if polygraph results are inadmissable in court, anyway, what good would it really do?  What would it really accomplish aside from making the victim feel persecuted and as if no one believes her?
