Title: February 2021 — Love BITES Monthly Writing Contest
Post by: 90lbsofdynamite on January 24, 2021, 01:30:47 PM
February 2021 — Love BITES Monthly Writing Contest

This month, since we have Valentines Day smack in the middle of the month, we turn our attention to love. That oft searched for state of bliss, which is seldom found. The stories should be all about love or it’s polar opposite hate. Or love that has soured into hate. The story should contain at least one of the elements love or hate (or both of them). The tale should be complete and stand on it’s own merit without need to have read something that comes before it. However, it may be part of a longer story arch. Your story should be between 1800 and 4800 words. Enter your story between Monday February 1st and Sunday February 28th 2021. Please make this the first posting of the story.

You may use one, two, all three or none of the following prompts.

Unrequited love w and how you win them or not

Love at first sight or blinded by the light or maybe the dark

A bad end to a love affair (how permanent an end is up to you)

Hit me with your best shot. I mean hit us all with your best story.

(Sorry for the crummy writing prompts this month)

The prompts aren't crummy at all; they stoked my imagination!

Inspiration struck this afternoon, so instead of tending to my housework I continued Lisa and Ir'enath's story. So here is the link to my February submission entitled "A Peculiar Turn of Events Part 2: Revenge".

https://ravishu.com/forums/index.php?topic=48889.0

I appreciate having a platform to express myself and develop my storytelling skills, as demented as they apparently are becoming.

Happy reading and writing!

Two- merit awarded for thinking so much of the contest and site that you made damn sure to be the first one to post and entry. We need more people like you to inspire others to post!

fantasybear369, good to see you embracing the spirit of the competition. I'm probably not going to enter this month. I have to write other things this or risk loosing those other writings. I got behind!

Alright newbie step aside so a veteran can post the entry you'll be toping in the polls

It a One On One story about a neighbour falling head over heels in love with a new neighbour but ogf course it wouldn't be a carhamgrater story if it was that straight forward!

http://ravishu.com/forums/index.php?topic=48977.0

Okay now you two can step back together again!

I believe i said this before but if not good luck in the contest and remember the real winner is the readers!

First I had nothing. Then I had a will to create. Then I had an idea, if I could make it work, that was vaguely in keeping with the prompts.

After that I stalled, but had another idea, even more vaguely in keeping with the story ideas. Then it stalled, as the final weekend of the month approached. All was looking dark and gloomy. Would SGH fail to meet a literary deadline?

But then this thing popped into my head last night so I said 'fuck it'. It does fit all three prompts, though.

Only Valentine's Day love/hate-themed stories? Good thing I didn't post any RU stories this month, all my Black History Month stories from our sister site aren't really love/hate-themed. Lust-themed of course.  >:D
I would have loved to include my story based on the CBS drama All Rise, or the story "Teenage Dream" I'm finishing up today. That one might be somewhat fitting, a boy's first crush.

Here's to a better March!

I took a "creative writing" course in college, and got an "A".

For years, I've been writing sex fantasy stories by hand, and keeping them in spiral notebooks, in a hidden false-bottom of my underwear drawer. They're never really finished, because they could always use more proofreading, rewrites, updates, etc. I recently thumbed through them. I've even got a Valentine's one!  But contest wise, I don't think I'd get a fair shake here, since nobody likes me (Including the moderator of this thread.)

Oh well. That's the price one pays for not trying to be popular, I guess.

No it's not that you're not liked it that you are not known for writing. Many of us when we first posted here were never known for being a 'writer'  Only way to break that cherry is to post a story and find out what type of reaction you receive. You might be surprised that your story is more popular than your personal views!

I've never said I didn't like you. Technically, I'm not the moderator, so you may not mean me. I vote for stories I like, I do not have to like the writer to admit a person is a good writer. I don't actually dislike anyone on this site. I don't agree with many on politics, religion, and such, but it doesn't mean I don't like them.

To 90 lbs: Fair Enough.
To Carhamgrater: Funny you should say "break your cherry". (You'll see why, if you read my story.)

Y'all convinced me.
As I said, it's a handwritten copy. But I have pretty decent handwriting, and one of those scanners that does a pretty good job of converting handwriting to digital. Still, with only an hour left in February (assuming the deadline is midnight tonight, eastern), there will only be time for one quick proofread. So please forgive any typos or formatting errors.

She probably means me, since I'm listed as such and because I told her in no uncertain terms that I consider her an unserious fraud and a predictably unpleasant troll. Nonetheless, if she'd like to contribute, oh, anything actually board-related like a sex story, she's free to do so. It's not like mods can change the votes or even see who voted for what. Like everything else she says, her concern about being unpopular as a reason not to contribute is just made-up fiction to spew a point.

I think it's perfectly understandable that people don't like being called names, just because they have a different opinion.
And I think it's silly to suggest, especially nowadays, that people will just put their differences aside and vote for somebody they don't like.
And one more thing: Timestamps will show that I actually DID post the story, before you suggested that my hesitancy was "made up fiction". So maybe you're the one who's the troll. Did you ever think of that?

I called you a troll because you are one. You don't have a difference of opinion.  You spew utter hate and lies about other people who don't deserve it. And what's really understandable is people don't like being lied about and subjected to hatred for doing and being things that are not wrong. Your crocodile tears on your own behalf fool nobody.

This is also why I generally ignore you unless you make it about me. You're not worth it.

As for the story, you posted your reply while I was typing, as the two-minute difference shows. You never had reason to be concerned about me and you know it. As I made clear, you are free to and encouraged to post a sex-related non-political-drivel story, and this mod has neither the desire or ability to interfere with its place in the board contest, despite your overt claims otherwise. BTW, stories go in the relevant story section, not the writing contest section. So pick one and learn to follow directions.

SGH: I called you a troll because you are one.

ME: Did you really just say "I know you are, but what am I? You're rubber, I'm glue, etc."

SGH: You don't have a difference of opinion.  You spew utter hate and lies about other people who don't deserve it.

ME: I tell no lies and I don't hate anybody (even if people do deserve it.)

SGH: This is also why I generally ignore you unless you make it about me. You're not worth it.
As for the story, you posted your reply while I was typing, as the two-minute difference shows.

ME: Doesn't matter if it's two minutes, or two seconds. Any amount of time is enough to show clearly that I didn't post in response to your post on this thread. Didn't speak to you; didn't even remember that you existed. Yet you assume that I was talking about you, that I "made it about you"! GREAT job of "ignoring me"! What an ego! You probably think that that Carly Simon song is about you! Don't you? Don't you? Don't you?

SGH: You never had reason to be concerned about me and you know it.

ME: And I never WAS concerned about you.
Clearly, somebody is living in somebody's head, rent free. You've just got the participants mixed up!

SGH: As I made clear, you are free to and encouraged to post a sex-related non-political-drivel story, and this mod has neither the desire or ability to interfere with its place in the board contest, despite your overt claims otherwise.

ME: I never made that claim about you. I was speaking of Ms. 90 lbs, who already did a fine job of alleviating my concerns, before you swooped in and tried to make it all about you.

SGH: BTW, stories go in the relevant story section, not the writing contest section. So pick one and learn to follow directions.

ME: Forgive me for putting my writing contest entry in the writing contest section. How could I ever have made such a grevious mistake!
(And BTW, great way to encourage someone to make a second contribution. I hear that Welcome Wagon is hiring. You should definitely apply!)

Wow. Not reading all that and don't really care. You have the right to enter the contest no matter what you claim the evil mod is going to do to you. And you have. So let it go already. You're not that interesting.

Evidently, (according to softgamehunter), I posted it in the wrong place.
And, as I'm sure is the custom, he properly berated me for doing so.
Anyway, I hope everybody enjoys the story!

*"PROBABLY means" you? Didn't care enough to be certain, before making a complete ass of yourself?
And unwilling to admit it and apologize when it turned out you were dead wrong?

I corrected your delusion, above, but you saw fit to say you were "not reading" it and "don't really care".
Because you were "not interested".

And now you're THREATENING me?
WTF?

It's no wonder that nobody wants to enter this stupid story contest!
I've seen some pretty inhospitable websites in my day, but this takes the fucking cake!
