Ao1's Internal iPod
« on: April 19, 2019, 03:14:57 AM »
Seeing as I've not much to blog about (I'm a very boring person in real life), I figure I'd go with the most interesting part of me, outside of the porn I write: my music choices. More specifically, what pops into my head and plays on repeat.

At the moment, just to start off, it is this:

Hallways by Something for Kate

In all my musical travels to Australia via radio.garden I've never hear of the band or the song. Thank you for the introduction will definitely check out more by them and introduce them to others up here!

Nice you've joined us in this forum, Army! And a great contribution. Haven't heard of these guys either, but I like them!

Okay, so, in struggling to get to sleep last night, my brain (and, of course, the iPod housed within it) decided to play Monty Python's The Lumberjack Song. On repeat.

Enjoy.

Okay, so, I was tossing up a little as to which clip of the two below I was going to bring to the fore. Then I thought, "Why not both?" [cue mariachi band playing "La Bamba"] So, here they are, for your aural pleasure.

Firstly: I found out that this trio performed at Coachella this year. So I feel bad for not being able to go see them. (But at the same time, one Australian band, Coachella? Seriously!? Two or three would've been better!) So below is my consolation, the first song of theirs I listened to.

Perfume - 1mm

The second is my favourite song from this band, mostly because it's a very different sound from the rest of the album. Perfect road trip music for the girls.

Skulker - Strawberry Deluxe

Okay, I'm going to plonk this here now, before my brain forgets, because it's a song I've been searching for for a long time (like twenty years). It's one of the songs that can be heard on the Triple J dead broadcast loop (no, I don't know what that thing's called; all I know is it stops the radio broadcast from having dead air when it loses the connection to the broadcast point); it's the third song in on the loop. And now I have it!

Christine Anu and Paul Kelly - Last Train

I really liked that Skulker Strawberry Deluxe song. Has sort of an old '90s vibe to it.

Understandable. It came out in 2000, so that vibe is certainly still noticeable.

I'm glad to be of service in expanding your musical knowledge. May I add another?

Now, if you know me well enough, you would know that I am a massive "tripper"—id est, I love the style of music commonly referred to as trip-hop. And there are quite a number of artists across the world whose music fits that category. This quartet are probably one of the least known, courtesy of the fact that there was virtually no promotion associated with their sole album, not even a single. As such, I ended up having to go with the best (clearest) song I could find. It's not their best on the album, I'll admit, but it's the clearest one I could find on YouTube.

They have quite a haunting sound. I like it. I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan of trip-hop, but most that I hear, I like.
