The controversy continues on this Netflix program.  I confess I have not seen it so I can’t make an informed decision.  Any here who have?  Your thoughts?

Haven't seen it, but isn't the first alternative sort of part of the point? "This is basically legal pedophilia and look at how disgusting it is"

Something I find interesting is that the name of the show is trending on major porn streaming sites. Did it suddenly trigger your average porn viewer to become interested in watching tweens twerk to get off? Do lots of people have some repressed sexual curiosity about it? Or did every pedo in the world suddenly get it in their head to bombard XVideos and PornHub with tween search terms for some reason?

I have watched a little bit and yep, I gotta say, it pretty well skirts the limits of what could be considered kiddy porn. Very graphic!
I could rape your pussy, but I'd be in and out in a few minutes. So I choose to rape your mind, and I'll be inside you forever!

Wow. You would think Netflix would know better.  I remember back in the 80s when Blue Lagoon first came out and Brooke Shields caused a stir for those scenes because of her age.  Now that is tame. Heck, Last Tango in Paris could be rated PG by today's standards :)

Dancing has become very sexualised in recent years. I remember a student years ago, she had been moved up to another group at her dancing school, and after our session, she wanted to show me her routine. Afterwards, I noted how subtly suggestive it was to her mother, and she agreed with me after realising. Most of the girls in her dance group were eleven and twelve; my student was nine!

(BTW I haven't seen it yet; I had to check and see if it was available in Australia first—it is—so maybe may need to watch a little of it just to see what it's about.)
Extinguishing the Flame is available on Amazon and supports Australian Bush fire relief.

It depends on today's standards.  50 Shades aside, we are a lot more puritanical when it comes to depictions of consenting, heterosexual, adults in films.  It encourages toxic patriarchal rape culture.

But when it comes to people that aren't old enough to consent or are even too young to emotionally understand it, that's when Hollywood, critics, the media screams that it's justified and anyone critical is being repressive as we slowly normalize a horrible world for children.

Haven't seen it yet, but will say some more after doing so.  Considering where the screams and cries were coming from, I'm going to say overhyped but missing the point.  I don't want to make this political, but from what I've seen on social media the same people going crazy about this also talk about QAnon and their craziness favorably.

I have nieces and cousins and daughters of friends that do dance and cheerleading.  Once they get to about 9-10 years old, they graduate from cute little kid dancing to more modern dancing.  In dance they'll still incorporate various forms, but cheerleading leans heavily on the modern stuff.

What's modern dancing today?  Twerking and shit like that.  I haven't seen anyone in the club do a Charleston Two Step.

I'm not trying to defend the modern dances, but 60 years ago parents lost their minds because their kids were doing the twist.  Now, that's Grandma's dance.

If we're talking about the sexualization of tweens and early teens, then we need to address that cheerleading dance competitions don't exist in a bubble.  There's a lot to go after.

Like I said, I haven't seen the show yet, so my opinion may change after watching it.
Always close the program you were running before exiting the holodeck
